HAN MU DO
The HanMuDo is an traditional Korean martial art created by the Dr. He Young Kimm. It is an art of defence typeset by techniques barehanded, techniques with weapons, the study of the Ki and the study of the philosophy of the martial arts.
Dr. Kimm has created the HanMuDo after forty years of training and search in various styles of Korean martial arts. From true researcher of martial arts, he has tried to integrate the techniques and the philosophies of such styles, the greatest party founded in the '50 years, with some new and innovative techniques in an only system all-comprehensive and balanced.
The system of the HanMuDo divides him in 4 principal sector:
1. Yuh Kwon Sul: Study of the techniques barehanded
2. Mu Ki Sul: Study of the techniques with the weapons
3. Son Du Sul: Study of the Ki
4. Han Chul Hak: Study of the Han philosophy (Korean)
Yuh Kwon Sul: Study of the techniques barehanded
It is the most full-bodied section in the system of the HanMuDo, and it understands the fundamental techniques of kicks and fists, no balancings and projections, techniques of defence (Ho Shin Sul), forms (Hyung) and fight (Dae Ryun).
The students that practise the techniques of defence of HanMuDo, realize that the series of techniques that learn to the basic level are the base of those that they learn when they progress in the system. Such intuitive system is subsequently highlighted by the forms of the HanMuDo (Hyung). Only in the martial arts of defence, the forms of HanMuDo found on the series of techniques of defence. In practice the forms allow the students to aesthetically practise alone the series of techniques in a beautiful operation and graced. The fight in HanMuDo is a system of free sparring conceived for challenging the students to apply the techniques of kicks, fists, projections, levers and strangulation in which they are practiced, in unexpected situations, and nevertheless sure and exciting.
Mu Ki Sul: Study of the techniques with the weapons
In the system of HanMuDo the apprentices study a certain number of weapons during course of training.
The students begin to train with weapons of offense, what the baton and sword. Then they learn to use weapons of defence as the short baton, rope, baton from walk and, finally, the fan.
Son Du Sul: Study of the Ki
The study of the Ki (in-house energy) is a fundamental party of HanMuDo. In the first phases of the training of HanMuDo, the apprentices learn the operations of breathing that stimulate the flow of the Ki in the body. With time and practice, students of HanMuDo learn to cultivate and to accrue the energy Ki. More later, to the advanced level of Son Du Sul the the students learn to check the circulation of the Ki through the body. During training to the students of HanMuDo is taught whether to use the energy Ki playing the techniques Yuh Kwon Sul and Mu Ki Sul.
History of Han Mu Do in Europe
In Europe the Han Mu Do arrives for worth of the english teacher Bob Banham, which for first it went to United States for participate to a seminar held by the Dr. Kimm He-Young in 1992. From conversant of martial arts he wanted to
become himself account of person of thing it was this martial art. He remained impressed. Not only from the martial art, but from the same Grandmaster Kimm. The Dr. Kimm asked him to that point to represent him in Europe and promised
to go in England, to Norwich where the teacher Banham teaches, twice the year for the following 5 years. In change, the teacher Bob Banham hocked him to take party to two seminars a year to Baton Rouge for the same period.
Since then the Han Mu Do is the principal martial art taught to his school "Chilsong." Two years after the teacher Bob Banham had embraced the Han Mu Do, the teacher Frans Van Boxtel, Dutch, conversant of Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Judo and Ju Jitsu, came into contact with Dr. Kimm and accordingly with the Han Mu Do. He was also so impressed by the art and his founder that participated in manifold seminars held by the Dr. Kimm in the United States and in Great
Britain. After 4 years, in 1996, the teacher Bob Banham, for motives of health, it abdicated the position of Manager for Europe, asking to the teacher Van Boxtel to take his place. Since then, the European general headquarter of
the Han Mu Do has been established to Uden (near Eindhoven).
Here every year is held the European seminar held by the Dr. Kimm and launchings other courses of updating held by the teacher Frans Van Boxtel, that keeps on promoting the art of the Han Mu Do conducting seminars in Europe. Many instructors of Han Mu Do in Europe are personal students of the Teacher Van Boxtel.
History of Han Mu Do in Italy
In January 1999 the teacher Pinga, then 4° Dan of Taekwondo and instructor of Ho Shin Sul (Korean personal defense) it announced to his students more elderly than of there to few months, in Switzerland, a seminar of a new martial art would be held with whose founder had been being by now in contact for different years without having can ever participate to one of his courses. Obviously the martial art in matter was the Han Mu Do and that it was the good
buy to take party to a seminar without having to make thousand of kilometers to arrive in America. Enthusiastic, even if of the almost entirely unaware they united him to the teacher Pinga, Nicola Fusco 2° Dan of Taekwondo, only then among his students to already have an own school and Vincent Mastrojanni red belt.
The experience in Switzerland was a true illumination: the techniques, the atmosphere, the demonstration of Grandmaster Kimm together with his student Grandmaster Serio, the hospitality and spirit of all participants coming from whole Europe impressed the Italian that decided to that point to study for also introducing this beautiful martial art in Italy.
After two years and half of hard job, diligent share to manifold seminars in Holland, England, Switzerland, the oversight of the teacher Ernst Jan Rolloos, representative for Switzerland become from after the seminar great friend of the teacher Pinga and the teacher Fusco, he reached the very examination for the black belt old brightly with the praises and compliments of the board and the same founder Grandmaster Kimm He-Young. In 2002 the promotion to 2° Dan and from that moment the plight has been directed to the propagation of the Han Mu Do in Italy culminated with the
seminar of May 2004 to Caserta to which they almost took party 50 between students and teachers coming from Europe. In May 2006, finally the foundation of the Italian Association Han Mu Do, with two official schools: Sul Sa
situated in Casoria (NA) of the teacher Pinga and Hwa Rang Kwan situated in Caserta of the teacher Fusco. In October 2006 the examination for 3° Dan during the European Seminar to Uden in Holland.
